Information for Patients

Dental implants can be used for replacing one or more missing teeth and for stabilizing troublesome dentures. As a technique it has been used since the 1960’s and is tried and tested.

Where it is suitable a dental implant is the very best way to replace a missing tooth as it is not necessary to drill other existing teeth and once the implant has integrated it should be there for life and not need replacing as bridgework or dentures do.

For patients who already have full dentures and are having trouble with them, dental implants can often be the only answer for providing stability and retention. For these patients the treatment can also make a huge difference and can give them back their confidence and their ability to eat all that ‘difficult’ food.

At Woodseats Dental Care we use the Neoss Implant System. This superb system was designed to take the best features from existing systems and combine them with innovative new ideas. Above all the system is designed to be simple and provide predictable results. You can be sure you are receiving the very best when treated with Neoss Dental Implants.

Examples of treatment

This gentleman had previously had a post crown where you can now see a space. There is still the broken root in place. He was treated with a single implant to which was attached a porcelain crown. As you can imagine he was thrilled with the result! Had he chosen a bridge to replace the broken tooth he would have had to have the teeth each side of the gap drilled down to peg shapes. This would have been a great shame and was completely avoidable using the implant.

This lady had lost her back tooth several years before but, as often happens, was suffering from several problems as a result. She had been eating only on the other side, which led to jaw joint problems, and the other teeth both next to the space and biting on to the space were starting to move position. Fortunately we saw her in time and we were able to provide for her the implant tooth you can see in the second photograph. This stabilized the moving teeth and cured her jaw joint pain as she can now eat on both sides.

Another dentist referred this lady to us because she was complaining that the bridge replacing her front tooth kept coming off. It was designed to be glued to the inside of her adjacent teeth but as often happens it proved not to be successful. We replaced the bridge with a single implant and porcelain crown. The result? No more missing bridge at the most inconvenient times and an excellent long-term appearance.
